Business Process Consultant
As part of a team, you will rapidly develop a thorough understanding of the end-to-end supply chain, delivering projects in exciting areas such as: new product development, assortment planning, sourcing, buying, merchandising, forecasting, inventory management and logistics. You will learn GLOBAL PELICAN 's accelerator programme methodologies, assisting clients to improve gross margin, increase product availability and reduce inventory levels. At GLOBAL PELICAN we are committed to providing practical solutions and implementing measurable and lasting results for our clients, from your first project you will be supporting us in these aims.

You will ideally be a new graduate or have at least 2 or more years experience in consulting or in a relevant industry role .

Business Strategy Consultant
As part of the strategy practice you will be working in a small team advising clients on business growth opportunities to increase top line sales, market share or expand into new channels and markets. You will work with clients to create innovative yet practical strategies with clear implementation plans to deliver superior business benefits.
You will have over 3 years experience in consulting or in a relevant industry role. An MBA is an advantage though not essential. Commercial awareness and ability to think strategically are necessities.
Your background might include: Business/strategy planning; Analysis of business performance; Market or industry research/analysis; Organisation design; or Business modelling and simulation.

Technology Consultant
Our technology teams help clients to obtain competitive advantage through implementation of tailored technology that is closely aligned to business strategy. We will offer you the opportunity to work in different stages of project lifecycles, on different applications and to leverage GLOBAL PELICAN 's industry expertise in each engagement. You will gain a wide range of skills and experience in project engagements with major clients as you build a career which could lead to the management of £multi million IT programmes.
You will have a degree level education (or equivalent) in IT/Business, or any science or analytical discipline. 2-3 years of IT implementation experience is essential, gained in a consultancy, software provider or industry role; experience gained through software support and analyst / programmer roles would also be relevant. You will need to be proficient in some of the following IT tools:

  • Languages: C, C++, Java, SQL, Pl*sql, Shell, Pro*C, Forms, Report, JavaScript , ASP.NET
  • HTML, XML, XSLT
  • OS: Unix Aix, Solaris, HP-UX , WIN NT,2000,XP
  • Database: Oracle,DB2-UDB, SQL server , SQL 2000
  • Web Server: Apache, WebLogic, WebSphere. IIS
  • Application Server: Tuxedo, MQSeries, Oracle Application Server
  • Object Technology - Internet: CORBA, EJB, JSP, SERVLET, J2EE, .Net JMS, Web Service
  • Mandatory - 3 or more years of demonstrable experience as a project leader on complex technical projects, with client and peer references
  • Mandatory - able to demonstrate good written language skills, to the level of a consultant's report, and able to provide a work sample
  • Mandatory - able to present complex ideas effectively, hold their own in a contentious discussion, and lead a group to consensus
  • Mandatory - possessed of relevant management or project methods
  • Financial services, travel or other high transaction load industry experience
  • Emphasis on operations (vs. software) experience; deployments and conversions are relevant
  • Project management experience and/or certification

For all positions you must have a strong academic background with a minimum 2.1 or equivalent from a leading university. Excellent analytical skills are essential along with high levels of personal motivation and energy with a strong ability to communicate at all levels.
