and Communications
Global
Pelican's Technology and Communications practice supports
companies in the telecommunications, IT, and electronics industries
as they strive to achieve competitive advantage in an environment
of rapid change and uncertainty. We work closely with clients
to recognize the forces transforming their markets, define
business models suited to their competitive situations, and
implement these models in ways that deliver impact rapidly
and effectively.
Many of our clients have
recently experienced a period of unprecedented change-a remarkable
boom followed by an equally dramatic bust. They now face uncertainties
as new products, new business models, or new competitors threaten
their core businesses. Some of the latest challenges come
from technologies such as voice over IP and WLAN, and from
emerging competitors from countries such as China. China's
reliance on low-cost manufacturing dwindles as they focus
on a more intellectual property-based model. Senior vice president,
David Dean highlights the challenges the country faces in
his Wall Street Journal opinion piece titled "China's
IP Standoff."
We also help clients better
manage their cost and asset base, and we help them determine
how to drive profitable growth and emerge from this difficult
period stronger than their competition.
We're currently working
with leading global players in the areas of shaping the industry
landscape, broadband technologies and services, digital media
and devices, wireless and fixed-line telephony, software,
the innovation process, branding, and sales channel and pricing
strategies. We collaborate closely with our clients to define
their goals, to develop strategies to achieve these goals,
and to overcome the challenges of implementation in achieving
these goals.
We also focus on a broad
range of issues including organization, operations, pricing,
and value-chain design.
